ABOUT US

President's Welcome

Welcome to the United Black Student Unions of California. This is a time for all three regions to come together in a collective spirit of unity. We have an important weekend planned that will leave you empowered. Those who participate fully will gain knowledge and strengthen their leadership abilities in the areas of social justice, cultural awareness, career and college choice and The Black Effect.

Four decades ago, UBSUC’s goal was to provide education, motivation, leadership development, and cultural insights to BSU teens around the state. Today UBSUC remains dedicated to assisting teens in recognizing and reconciling the obstacles that caste systems, racism and glass ceilings will put in their paths.

The Black Effect convention theme of 2021 challenged delegates to examine their past, present and future as world citizens. Our “blackness” has conferred an unsung yet enduring impact on every aspect of our lives. From the awesomeness of black inventions, to the results of our toil. From the uplift of our dance to the magnificence of our minds, The Black Effect is immeasurable!

I bring greetings on behalf of the twenty-eight member UBSUC Executive Board. Thank you for spending this weekend with us. Attend all four sessions. Contribute the power of your voice. Join us we journey towards the UBSUC state initiatives. Dwell with us as we lead!

Don’t miss the seminars, elections, Rites of Passage, and scholarships planned for UBSUC Leadership Convention 2022. See you at all four sessions, Friday night, Saturday morning, afternoon and evening.
